You Can Achieve Optimal Health

I am always inspired by conversations I have with people and clients.


I had a recent conversation with someone and they said "honestly, I am not sure what listening to my body or feeling great means or looks like."

And it reminded me of how far in my own health journey I’ve come and how I remember sitting in that exact spot.


I remember just humming along in life doing fine, waking up with achy joints and feet thinking it was normal.


Having horrible cycles, severe headaches, eczema so bad I’d scratch my skin off, poor digestion, a bloated belly, never feeling rested, not motivated to move, and mood swings like I was out of my own body out of control was normal to me just to name a few.

I didn’t realize how not normal those things were and that they didn’t have to be.


So what does feeling great look like?


You wake up with energy in the morning like you actually slept and wake up without an alarm clock. Your body is not in pain, you don’t have joint pain, and your mood is pretty level.


If your female, your cycles are pretty uneventful. They are not omg I love my period but not really more than a blip too where you have to reach for pain pills because you are doubled over in cramps. Or miss school or work like I used to because the pain was so bad.

Your digestion is working like a well-oiled machine. Your bowel movements are perfection and generally not super gassy, bloated, or have super can’t stand your own smells going on. Your movements are easy, clean break, and consistent in size and shape which is not that of skinny inflamed snakes or hard constipated lumps.


You move your body in a way that feels good to you and energizes you but doesn’t make you puke or feel like a used up dish rag. You have the energy to move and get through your workouts but then move outside of your workouts.


We were made to move! If your workouts are so hard that you have zero energy the rest of the day for other things without reaching for stimulants, that is not an effective or appropriate movement dose for you.


Your body weight should be sitting and maintaining at a healthy size where you feel comfortable.


Your appetite and relationship with food is healthy and you don’t attach feelings like guilt or shame to what you are eating.


You are not depressed or full of anxiety all the time. Your head feels clear and you are ready to take on the world.


You have no need to compare yourself to others and are content with yourself and the path you are on. You aren’t doing self-harm to your body by doing things that don’t work for you.

Your mood is pretty level, and YES, even around your menstrual cycle. You aren’t snapping at everyone in site because hormones are unbalanced. Your not in a constant state of Hanger because you aren't eating enough.


You aren’t in constant pain with nagging injury after nagging injury. Your body feels good during movement.


Whenever I work with a client, we touch on all of these things. If one of these areas is off we start digging deeper as to why and work to getting them feeling great.


It is NOT a fantasy to feel great. It is NOT just part of aging to feel worse as you age. Those are shitty answers from shitty people who don’t understand wellness. I feel better now than I did in my teens and twenties.



You CAN live your best life and feel good in your own body EVERY SINGLE DAY. But you have to be willing to do the deep dive and let some things go that are not bringing you up to that potential of optimal health and wellness.
